Weekly AGS Meeting (Optional)

Please attend weekly AGS Meetings on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. in Fox 107. Each meeting is about one hour, and you must be present for the entirety to earn two general points per meeting. Attending meetings regularly will ensure that you are informed about current and upcoming social, service, and leadership opportunities. These meetings are fun, informative, and social, but they are not mandatory. If you cannot attend, you must stay up to date by reading the meeting’s Minutes, posted on our website by the AGS Recording Secretary every Thursday.

Points Requirements for Transcript Credit

Keep the attached Points Requirements summary for your reference. To be considered an active member and earn a transcript notation, you must participate in group or individual service and activities each semester. These are recorded as “points” by the Points Secretary with each point representing about an hour of your time. The number of points required by each member varies depending on life-circumstances, such as the number of units in which you are enrolled. The average member must earn 30 points, defined by Points Requirements for Active Membership. However, those who qualify to earn fewer must declare so on a Points Exemption Form, which must be submitted to the Points Secretary on the same deadline for membership applications. Extensions will not be given. Activity points may be earned by attending meetings, helping execute club-sponsored activities, serving on committees, volunteering on campus or for the community, participating in fundraisers, etc. If you cannot attend the weekly AGS meeting, you must read the posted Minutes to learn your current opportunities for earning points. In addition to points requirements, transcript credit is also contingent upon the completion of 6 or more units at WVC by the end of the semester in which you apply and maintaining semester and cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher.

Permanent Membership

If you qualify, please see an AGS Co-Advisor for more information and submit a copy of the Permanent Membership Application. At least one semester of active membership, completion of 60 transferable units (by the end of the semester in which you apply for Permanent Membership), a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the prior semester (Fall/Spring only) are required OR two semesters of active membership, completion of 60 transferable units, a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the prior semester (Fall/Spring only). Permanent Membership is necessary to earn the gold graduation stole and Lifetime AGS Membership, which will exempt you from future dues.

Inability to Earn Transcript Credit

There will be no public acknowledgment or record if you apply for membership but choose or fail to earn active membership and transcript credit. Thus, your transcript will not be affected.
